From Friends to Forever

Katherine and Philip’s fairytale love story began when mutual friends introduced them. They instantly hit it off and the rest is history! It was like they’d known eachother their whole lives. The couple got engaged amidst the magic of the historic stones of Easby Abbey in Richmond, setting the tone for their historic countryside wedding at Shortflatt Tower in April 2024.

Their Fairytale Wedding Venue

As soon as Katherine and Philip arrived at Shorflatt Tower they began envisioning saying their vows in the Woodland Suite amidst the ancient forest and the sun streaming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The couple were blown away by the magical setting – it’s as if they were in a fairytale!

The Woodland Suite has such a lovely rustic feel that the couple felt was exactly the atmosphere they wanted for their big day. They couldn’t wait to surrounded by the natural beauty and charm of the historic estate.

“As soon as I walked into the woodland I got that feeling and I knew we had to get married here!”

Wedding Attire Fit for a Fairytale

The couple were the prince and princess of their own fairytale, set in their magical historic wedding venue and their attire blended in seamlessly! Katherine looked exquisite in her ivory gown from Epernay Bridal, complete with floral embelishments perfect for a spring wedding. From the jewellery to the beading and accessories, everything sparkled but what shone the most was the radience of their love for eachother.

Philip’s suit was purchased from Suit Culture and of course the boys had to match! The couple loved the blue shades so much that they wove them into the rest of the wedding attire, with Katherine donning periwinkle blue flowers and the bridal party dressed in blue gowns as if pluckled straight from the pages of Cinderella. The whole affair exuded fairytale charm fit for their historic countryside wedding.

The Wedding Breakfast

The food also didn’t disappoint! For starters, the newlyweds and their guests were served the most delicious creamy butternut squash soup. This was followed by the main of succulent beef, so tender it melted in the mouth!  Whilst Katherine and Philip agreed that the main course was the star of the show, there’s always room for dessert and lucky for them, they got three! The delectable trio of desserts was the perfect option to ensure that all of their nearest and dearest could indulge.

Highlights of Their Historic Wedding

If the day were to be summed up in 3 words it would be smiles, love and laughter! Bringing all of their loved ones together felt so special but nothing warmed their hearts as much as seeing their sons smiling in their little suits. A special day for the whole family!

Philip and Katherine were able to relax and enjoy the day in the knowledge that the dedicated wedding team at Shortflatt Tower were there every step of the way. They ensured that their celebration ran seamlessly, allowing the couple to create lasting memories that they’ll cherish forever.

“I have never smiled and laughed so much. Being with all of our loved ones in the same room was perfect. I never felt stressed or worried. I knew everything was in hand.”

A Few Special Touches

The boys brought much joy to the wedding ceremony, putting smiles on all of the guests faces before the couple could even say “I do”! The brothers walked down the isle carrying signs reading “last chance to run” and “here comes mammy”, adding an extra-special humorous touch to the ceremony.
