The Wedding Blog
Kate and Matthew found true love on Bumble – proof that dating apps do in fact work! They took the next step in their relationship on Kate’s birthday in November 2021. What could be a more beautiful birthday gift than a promise of a life spent with your beloved? They celebrated their engagement at Kate’s favorite place in Northern Ireland, Ballintoy Beach, along the Giants Causeway coastal route in Belfast. The happiest of memories formed amidst spectacular scenery! The couple exchanged vows in an enchanting woodland wedding March 17th, embracing the celebrations of St Patrick’s Day.
A Venue to Showcase Nature's Beauty
Kate and Matthew fell in love with the venue in the same way they fell in love with each other. The couple were blown away by the serene natural beauty of Shortflatt Tower Estate. As they explored the venue on an open day, brimming with the excitement of envisioning their wedding day, two deer dashed into the woods ahead of them at the top of the aisle. Witnessing such a display of love in nature, they instantly knew Shortflatt Tower was the perfect choice for their own big day!

Woodland Wedding Attire
The bride and groom certainly looked the part for their big day! A truly picture-perfect couple! Kate’s dress was nothing short of a masterpiece, boasting a stunning lace back and delicate button details cascading down the spine. The spectacular long train flowed gracefully, adding a touch of splendor to every step. The dress was purchased from Wed2Be and was adorned with intricately woven floral motifs which mirrored the natural beauty of the gardens of their woodland wedding venue.
Kate held a beautiful bouquet of wildflowers, which paired perfectly with her dress and Matthew’s boutonniere. The groom’s charming grey suit was purchased from Cavani at Dalton Park and even their little cockapoo looked dapper for the big day in a matching tux!

Woodland Wedding Day
The couple appreciated being able to stay at the venue the night before, which helped calm the pre-wedding nerves! The team at Shortflatt Tower ensured the celebrations flowed seamlessly, with their friendly faces and professional expertise. Kate and Matthew were able to simply enjoy their special day, knowing that the team had everything in hand and that the venue was both cozy and spacious enough for their guests. Chuck Tails made sure that their pooch was well looked after too and didn’t miss out on any of the fun!
Celebrations continued into the evening with the music of The Emerald Thieves – the showstopping Irish band perfectly complemented their St. Paddy’s Day wedding and ensured the dancefloor remained full all night!

Flavours to Savour
Not only will Kate and Matthew’s wedding day be remembered as a celebration of their love but also as a day of fantastic food! The couple adored both the chicken and pork mains so much that neither could decide on a favorite. Not only did the couple enjoy the culinary delights, but many of their guests also remarked on the deliciousness of the food.
The couple were of course a match made in heaven and so was the wedding cake with the florals of their woodland wedding venue delicately incorporated into the design. A timeless two-tier cake for the wonderful Mr and Mrs!
