The Wedding Blog

Gemma and Alexandra met when they were just 15 years old. Although deeply in love, they were both too young and unsure to pursue a relationship openly. Life took them on different paths, but they remained in touch over the years.

In 2022, Gemma realised life was too short and asked Alexandra out on a date. Since then, they’ve been inseparable. The couple got engaged in January 2023, marking the beginning of their journey towards their beautiful and unforgettable wedding.

Falling for Shortflatt Tower

Gemma and Alexandra fell in love with Shortflatt Tower the moment they saw it. Located conveniently close to their home, it was a unique venue none of their friends or family had chosen. They adored its character, charm, and the warm welcome they received from Sarah, the venue coordinator. Every detail about Shortflatt Tower matched their dream wedding venue perfectly.

“When we visited the venue and we fell in love instantly. It was perfect, it had character, charisma, and we loved Sarah upon meeting her. Every detail of Shortflatt tower was everything we could ever wish for”

Highlights of the Special Day

Their wedding day was filled with many memorable moments, starting with preparations in the on-site cottage, surrounded by their closest friends and family. Watching Alexandra walk down the aisle was a breathtaking experience for Gemma. The entire day was a seamless blend of beautiful moments and heartfelt emotions, enhanced by the enchanting ambiance of Shortflatt Tower.

Dining on the Day

From the vibrant beetroot and goat’s cheese starter to the tantalizing choices of chicken and pork mains, the chefs carefully crafted each dish. The wedding breakfast catered to everyone’s palate, and while Gemma and Alex agreed that each main was delicious, they couldn’t quite agree on which took first place! Last but not least, the chefs served a decadent sticky toffee pudding as the sweet finale.

Gemma and Alexandra couldn’t have been happier with their experience at Shortflatt Tower.

“The whole day was seamless, we´ve talked about it every day since. From the staff serving canapés and arrival drinks to Sarah and the Girls making both bridal walks from the cottage to the ceremony so stress free and enjoyable. The venue itself is absolutely stunning and beautiful.

Every room served a purpose on the day for the young guests there was room to dance and mingle and enjoy the singer. For the older guests there was ample room to sit in the beautiful surroundings and enjoy this one-of-a-kind venue. The location of the grounds is secluded yet only a short taxi ride to Ponteland. The grounds and rooms at Shortflatt tower can’t be described and must be viewed in person to really understand how magical this place is to get married.

Alexandra and I cannot thank the entire team enough for making our day so incredibly perfect.  As for the venue, you just need to see it to believe it!”
